If it did not, then maybe the method used to update did not trigger the advertising, and so missed the relevant change. Perhaps Simona can add whether the advertising popup appeared on the update from the immediately previous version to 94.0.1. Note also that I do update to each version as I get notified, so I was not updating from some old version, but from whatever version was pushed out immediately prior to 94.0.1, to 94.0.1. 'The thing that changed' would better be 'The thing that visibly changed'. Since I can't edit the comment to clarify, let me do that here. If you updated and did not get the advertising as a popup, then the attempt to reproduce was not reproducing the same conditions. The thing that changed was how the Firefox advertising was delivered. Merely updating likely has nothing to do with this problem. (In reply to Pat Tressel from comment #10) The previous session should have been retained. I am reporting this in case the new use of a popup is responsible for clearing the session. Note in the past, new version announcements have been delivered on a web page, not on a popup.

The session got cleared on first startup after installation of version 94.0.1.

This time, no popups, and I got the usual session restore page, which did find the full session.

I copied backup.jsonlz4 -> previous.jsonlz4 and started Firefox again. I killed Firefox using Task Manager to prevent it from overwriting the previous session. I looked at the profile - the session had been cleared. I opened the history menu - 'restore previous session' was grayed out. The popup was removed, exposing the blank page. That was worrying, but I'd backed up my profile, so I clicked it. Then another popup appeared (or contents of same popup were changed) to say thank you for using Firefox. On the first startup after the installation, Firefox started a session with a single tab showing a blank page, and a popup over that offering that 'new colorways are available' and asking if I wanted to try them. I installed Firefox v 94.0.1 when I got a new version notification.
